Columbia, MD – WebMechanix, a performance-based digital marketing agency headquartered in the Baltimore-Washington region, has been named one of Inc. Magazine’s Best Workplaces.

The company earned a spot as part of the cover story in the June 2019 issue of Inc. Magazine. This distinguished list is the product of a vast and comprehensive analysis of privately held American companies fostering vibrant cultures, noteworthy employee engagement, and exceptional benefits. Gathering data on nearly 2,000 submissions, Inc. singled out just 346 finalists in the entire country.

Each nominated company participated in an employee survey, conducted independently by Omaha’s Quantum Workplace, in areas around trust, management effectiveness, perks, and future outlook. The data were gathered, analyzed, and audited by Inc., and each nominee was ranked using a composite score of survey results.

“This honor truly embodies the vision we’ve crafted and it honors the valuable contributions of each member of the WebMechanix family. Words can’t express how proud I am,” said Arsham Mirshah, co-founder and CEO of WebMechanix.

According to Inc.’s data, 94.3% of WebMechanix’s workforce is “highly engaged,” well above the sample average of 74.2% — including categories of both “highly engaged” and “moderately engaged.”

The distinction reflects WebMechanix’s commitment to employee recognition, performance management, diversity, and education. In fact, WebMechanix employees each clocked an average of over 70 hours in training time in 2018, nearly two full workweeks.

All nominated companies had to have a minimum of 10 employees and be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent—that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.

While researching the finalists, Inc. and Quantum saw distinct themes:

  • 99% provide health insurance—and some cover the cost.
  • 49% allow employees to bring pets to work.
  • 65% take employees to offsite retreats to relax and recharge.
  • 16% offer paid sabbaticals to reward length of service.

“With today’s tight labor market, building a great corporate culture is more important than ever,” said Inc. Magazine editor-in-chief James Ledbetter. “The companies on Inc.’s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from.”
